Duncan Telford.
Crickets, Tate Britain 2003.
Each 'cricket' comprises of a portable casette player hidden inside a small drawstring bag. The casette player plays the pre-recorded sound of crickets through the in-ear headphones. Although only small, the headphones act as mini-speakers. The installation encourages the listener to think about the relationship between the size of the sound source and the volume of the sound, as well as how natural sounds affect the way we perceive our environments.
